Dont know about Pixinsight, but Startools is easier than PS colour select. You can click on a missed star or around a selected star to increase the selection just on that star, and if you cock up, its reversable, just on that star. Ive spent huge wasted hrs fighting PS with colour select, never again.
This image was a bit different, manual nukeing on the final version worked best (without going back to previous processing steps for auto nukeing), and its easier for 3 can processing (3CP).

Fred, this is magnificent mate! I just showed my wife and she agrees. 2 million stars? Hard slog mate. Are you using the clone tool or the spot healing tool?
Aah come on Fred,
Tell the truth, that's not a photo at all is it... you have taken up painting with water colours haven't you and this is just a cruel trick
Truly majestic (couldn't think of another awesome word at the time)
Love it.
Thanks Guys. Baz, thats 2 billion stars, but with 3CP its a snitch either way. Just the heal tool, not spot, more work, but worked better in this case. Thats the beauty of megadata, it allows a mind switch from noise-aware processing to pure random art painting (if inclined of course).
