Eta Carina NGC 3372

A while ago I picked up a De-rotator cheap and finally have been able to attach it to the scope, it works ok but still has some issues the bearings are wobbly so after some research it seems I will need to get slightly larger ball bearings to reduce the wobble and sometimes it stops working for a while then restarts not sure why, so I still needed to crop the image to remove the curved stars.

hi wayne,

nice job it would be interesting to have a side by side comparo of your normal alt az carina next to the de-rotated version. is this the full frame or has the image been cropped?

To me it looks to have worked pretty nicely, and noticeably a fair bit less noise than the old 25 sec subs.

very promising result, looks like it will allow you to hunt out some dimmer DSOs! great stuff!

Cheers,

Rusty
