Non-aurora NEAR Granite Island!

Well I ventured down south of Adelaide as well in the hope of seeing an amazing aurora last Thursday night. Paul had phoned me earlier in the day to tell me how good it could be (and no I don't blame him for the 'almost' wasted trip! haha). I got there about 8.30 and ended up leaving at 4.30am! With lots of nice aurora-less images though!

Paul was going to Granite Is but I thought The Bluff area just west of there might have good scenery for a foreground, and it did. The image below was taken at Petrel Cove on the west side of The Bluff.

With the waxing gibbous moon it made for some nice foreground shots albeit in detriment to picking up the stars. This image had some very 'special' and 'highly technical' lighting on the foreground rocks and breaking waves.... car headlights as they came over from The Bluff carpark and angled down to the water!

Nikon D600, 14-24mm, 20sec, ISO 1000, f2.8. Very minor processing in CS6 - brightness/contrast and shadows/highlights.

More to come in next posts.
