2nd attempt at M42

My first attempt I used only 25sec subs and the core was blown so I added some 10 sec and 2 sec subs and the core was still blown out so I stacked the 25sec, 10 sec and 2 sec subs separately then processed them separately then stacked the resulting 3 subs finally a good mix.

Just starting to gather data for this project I am hoping to get over 3 hours of data on this one hopefully as I add more shorter subs into the mix it will help prevent the core from blowing out this is only a total of around 25mins data.

I have added a Hubble Space Telescope comparison, I will never get close to the detail from hubble but I do like the colour of their image just cant seem to get mine close.

Also added a crop of the core from the 60 x 2sec subs at iso 1600.

40 x 25sec subs at iso 1600 (16.6mins)
40 x 10sec subs at iso 1600 (6.6mins)
60 x 2sec subs at iso 1600 (2mins)

12" Meade LX200 f6.3 (alt/az setup with No guiding)
Sony Nex-3 DSLR Camera
Processed with DSS,Startools,Gimp

Thanks Ingrid and Laurie, thanks Rowland very interesting I have just been looking into how to use Hubble colour palette.

Thanks Mariusz I am using a 12 inch Meade LX200 with a f6.3 focal reducer.

Thanks Aaron, over the past few years I have been trying many imaging and processing techniques using only alt/az tracking and no guiding some techniques have given bad results and some good results, I am still learning.

Thanks Mark, (when your at work next say hello to our friend Adam Budd for me, I used to live just down the road from him last year)
