An excellent turnout at Crago this weekend. The field adjascent to the observatory was buzzing with activity, we had nightscapers with DSLR's, visual observers with Dobs and SC's and a couple of astrophotographers with their heavy duty mounts and scopes to boot.
The high wind and a layer of cloud that set in around midnight were the only deterrants but overall it seemed everyone was enjoying a good night.
It was only late into the morning that the cloud floated away and the wind dropped, but by then most of the visitors had left.
I took that oportunity to try out a 360 panorama consisting of 27 frames later stitched and wrapped around in photoshop.
The images were taken as:
25 second exposures
16mm
f/2.8
ISO 4000
Canon 5D MK3
Awesome stuff Carlos, cool how you have used the planet earth to keep the moon tamed I assume thats the moon, or could be twilight ?
Do you know of any Tutes on how to do this in PS, Id luv to give it a go . . Very interesting ?

Cheers guys I appreciate the feedback and comments glad you liked it.
Bob, yep there's a stack of tuts on youtube the one I used specifically is this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ECvNFxjymaM - he's a little hard to understand but I got through it. I thought he was quite thorough.
Something I've learnt from this attempt is that depending on how much land you capture in the pano determines the size of the circular planet. I have another one I'm working on at the moment, same location but earlier in the evening with cars, people, scopes etc, hopefully when I distort it into the cicular shape they will still be recognisable.
Cheers for this Carlos, and yep, you did very well to get through that I like the amount of 'planet in your above work, lots of sky, so, yeah, a whole new ball game in Compositions etc, , Look forward to your next work of Art, Top stuff
Thanks Bob! Ah forgot to answer your earlier quetion, the glow is from the town of Richmond at the foot of the mountain.
This is the 2nd pano I took earlier in the night, this time with more foreground. Getting the hang of it, now just need to get some interesting subjec matter.
great images Carlos, I made one of these once, but it worked out to be around 800 MP and 3 gig in size
Thanks Jo I had the same issue, at first I couldn't save it until I reduced it in size. Any adjustments or corrections took ages to complete, left me thinking I need to increase RAM from 4 to 8gigs.
