Nokia Lumia / Windows Phone

Hi guys,

I was thinking about upgrading to the new Nokia Lumia 1020, i currently have an iPhone 4. I use SkySafari pro all the time and am not sure there are any better or equivalent apps out there. Does anybody know of any? I have downloaded a few but didn't find them as handy.

I emailed Souther Stars (SkySafari) and they advised that they will not be making SkySafari available to the windows phones - so now i'm a bit unsure of the switch.

Cheers

Rusty

I'd either stick with the iphone family or jump ship to Android. There's not likely to be another mobile os around for a long time to challenge either of these. Therefore developers are unlikely to support anything other than these 2.

I've got SkySafari Pro on my Nexus 7 - works well.

Rusty , I made the switch to Nokia , a 920 about 6 months ago and I would never go back to Android or apple again , the operating system is so good , easy to use , intuitive as and the way my phone works with my Windows7 computer is amazing !! , they talk the same language right from the start . No fuss , just plug in and away , easy peazy .
Give it time and there will be plenty of APPs available , there are plenty now .
Don't write them off , and the 920/1020 Luminas have awesome Zeiss lenses in their camera , way better than my old HTC one .
My 5c .
Brian.

They are selling like hot cakes up here , but true they are a great phone , so easy to use , only 2 windows to slide , the rest is a sweet touch screen , way better than my HTC one , Sony Experia and Samsung Galaxy 3 android phones , my last 3 ( they all died a horrible death ,, 900mph into the concrete , thanks Telstra for replacing every one , no questions asked ,) and old iPhone 2 , no better , to smart for their own good .
With a windows phone everything just falls to finger , nice and easy .
6 months now and zero problems , cant say that about my iPhone experience !!! , or my last 7 years of Android ,, what a joke gingerbread is ... to complicated for its own good , horrible !! to me .
Just wait these windows phones will RULE !| .

Did I mention the camera ??

LOL globally they're selling like stale cakes

SkySafari is the best mobile astronomy app I've used on any platform - scrub the mobile even - so to reply to the OP, I'd pick your favourite over the platforms supported by Southern Stars.

Also remember that if you switch to Android from iOS (or vice versa), you'd need to buy any apps again.

my finger is on the pulse, all the time

I wouldn't buy a M$ product if they dominated the market...they can't be trusted, plain and simple.

Indeedy, it's good to have choice IMO

Btw, I tried the Lumia when they first came out, wasn't my cup of tea. Too slow, no apps, etc.
