Blue Mountains - Katoomba Airfield 7th Sept.

Hi all,

Election night is also session night at the Airfield this September - many thanks to Rod for making the Airfield available to us, .

I'm hoping for kinder conditions this time around. Not so cold. Less blowy. Better transparency. But, we'll take what we get I suppose. The combustion heater I'm sure will get fired up though as it still will be very cool.

Conditions certainly be much better. The first time I saw M33 was at the Airfield a couple of years back now. It was a naked eye object, a magnificent round patch in the sky. I hope to have such conditions again this time around.

Mental.

Believe me, it works out really well. Nap in the afternoon and you'll be up all night worked for me back in June.

Btw, you think it's soup now, you want to go back in winter

You probably won't find it too impressive Jason with your tricked out gear now. Haha.

I'll be bring a couple extras with me this month. One is my work colleague and the other (his friend) is a astrophysicist. The conversations will hopefully be interesting.

Sorry, how do I get the Katoomba Airfield?
Cannot locate on Google Map.
Note: I am new to Astronomy and have heard that is pretty good to shoot Star Gazing there?

Edit:
Yes, I got that from Google Map after another search. Can I goto the airfield by this route:
Penrith -> Great Western Highway
-> Station Street Exit -> Railway Parade -> Rutland Road -> Grand Canyon Road

Could anyone suggest where I might get some red film to cover over the interior lights in my car? I mean, somewhere I can walk-in and buy it rather than mail order? It's either that or yank the fuse...
