Milky Way from the tripod,again.

Hi all, I forced myself out last night after work in the cold to my dark site west of Melbourne.

It was a brisk 3 degrees, but was a crystal clear night and the sky looked awsome.

I set up both the 350d and the modded 5d, for an hour or so session.

I snapped a few 20-30 second exposures with the 5d and 50mm, but as usual rotation got the better of the images

I wound back the exposures to 8-10 seconds, and got a couple of o.k. shots on the cmos, i was running from the 5d short exposures to the 350d at the longer exposures back to the 5d.

Images processed in photoshop cs2, re-sized to fit.

I would really really love a Kenko Skymemo

Trevor,

They are well captured. Nice clean shots.

3 degrees! That warm huh? Don't come any further west if that's cold to you

thats amazing for tripod single shots - that 5D/50mm one cracks me up, you would have to guide for 5 min at least with film to get that deep
good to see someone taking these digitals out to dark sites and giving them a thorough workout
man their nice fast lenses eh :-)
i really want one of those 10-22's, damn their good!!
