Oh, man. Was it worth seeing at the cinema?
I saw the preview to it when I went to see Pacific Rim in 3D and it almost made me sick with all the motion. Some irrational fear on my part, but, my heart was beating so fast, haha. I didn't want it to end, but, I couldn't wait for it to end at the same time!
Will suck it up and go and see it.

I will see it this weekend, so far the reviews are so good, most critics agree that it is one of the most beautifully shot science fiction movies in a long, long time.

Got tickets for Sat evening, 3D. Now I'm getting worried, it's supposedly a real 'edge of seat sitter'. Might have to calm my nerves ( before and after !! ) with a wee drop of something medicinal.

I have not seen any movies in 3D yet, but I am tempted by this one. Is the 3D convincing?

Margaret and David both recommended seeing this in 3d.
Can't wait to see it.

Saw it last night. Excellent movie. Beautifully shot. Even sort of slightly plausible (well, in that round about "it might happen if all the things that possibly could go wrong actually did go wrong ... on the same day ... in the same place ... with the same person" kind of way).
I highly recommend it - it's been a long time since I saw a film at the cinema that made me want to tell people to go and see it.
I saw it in 2D, because 3D gives me a headache. Shame, because I think this is a film that really would look spectacular in 3D. It was still bloody good in 2D, though.

3D Stu is stunning. It has come such a long way in such a short period of time.

Thanks for the info. It has been a while since my last visit to a cinema. Time to see my first movie in 3D.

Hey Guys,
does anyone know if the glasses they give you in 3D cinemas are the same as the ones we have at home for our (totally useless - lol) 3D TVs?
Any thoughts?

It depends on your TV.
The more recent crop of passive 3D TVs works with cinema ("Real3D") glasses. The first lot of 3D TVs used active (and mostly proprietary) glasses.
Cheers
Steffen.

Hey Steffen,
mine are at least two years old, possibly three, and are active. I gather 'active' is not what's required for the cinema.

No, you're right, cinema glasses are definitely passive.

I saw the movie today. The odd "inaccuracies" aside (eh, it's a movie) it was visually spectacular!
Glad I saw it in IMAX, giant screen and 3D conveyed a sense of what I'd imagine it's actually like to be floating around in space.

It does what all space movies do: compresses space and time greatly. There are other things they obviously fictionalised (well, they kinda had to, otherwise, the story would have been impossible), but, as you say, it's a movie. Enjoy!

Awesome movie, yeah, some 'inaccuracies' but we were on the edges of our seats for almost the whole time and it just flew by. The 3D stuff and the sense of being there was brilliant. Needs to be seen twice we reckon to really see all that happens, it's very fast paced for the action shots of which most of the movie is..
