G'day,
I'm slowly getting closer to my new telescope system. This includes a new bintel 12" f4 (GSO) newt

Obviously the focuser will need to be upgraded (and with the aussie dollar sliding i had better act fast).
I plan to image with a DSLR, coma correcter and OAG guider... Till the time arises (1-3 years??) i can afford a good quality CCD.
I'm getting a little confused with the focuer options out there. I'm not sure if robotic focusing is required straight away but something upgradeable would be handy.
I've been looking into Moonlite and Feathertouch and there are so many options (with feathertouch being more exy).
Firstly, as the scope has a 3" focuser (with 2" / 1.25" adaptors) does that mean i should really be getting a 3" focuser again? They are more exy but should i just get it now for long term prospects?
Secondly, the probably bigger issue is the drawtube travel, will 1.5" be suitable for a DSLR (with coma corrector)?
The moonlite focuser high res stepper motor focuser and stepper motor and moonlite miniV2 controller seems to be the best value for money i can find but not sure if i should get what i can in the feathertouch range and chip away.
I'm happy to spend around $600 on the focuser (initially).
any help welcomed.
Cheers,
Russ
