From a geeky point of view, it's pretty cool. And as Rolf suggest above, would make a cool shot for nightscape!

From an environmental point of view, I'm a bit disappointed it's still there. I know our thinking was a bit different 35 years ago, but you'd expect there'd be some sort of contract or obligation to remove the sets once filming finished. You know?

Yeah, yeah. It's just desert. But still...

Hmm ok, I thought it was shot in Tunisia only because Ewan McGregor makes mention of it in his documentary "Long Way Down" with Charley Boorman as they motorcycled from Scotland down to Sth Africa and they make a stop over on the way down, here's an exerpt if you fast forward to about 6 minutes into the video:
