Hi jjj,
Can not be a cyclone. The official cyclone season is over. LOL

The latest I have heard a cyclone develop in Qld was April. It is extremely rare. This is almost May. The weather gods have been angered. Has someone won lotto and bought toys? Crazy weather.

1000Klm is a long way off the coast. Hopefully it steers itself East before reaching the coast. I have been through a cat 2 cyclone. It is not something I ever want to experience again. The wind gusted so strongly that the house shook. It shook hard like in an earthquake. There were hazy blue flashes in the sky at night. Power had failed and no water from the taps.
I kept a battery radio next to me. No street lights all was very dark. With a howling wind and the shaking house in the dark. It lasted 3 days. It went back out to sea through the day and returned at night. Rain in big drops was blown sideways. It was also salty. And that was only a cat 2.

So here's hoping it does turn away.

Cheers

And here in the NT, we thought we would at least get a Tropical low, and maybe a Cyclone, but this year nothing at all, and the dry is upon us.

Apparently it has been one of the driest wet seasons on record, and I came up here to get some storm action, silly me.

Queensland has copped more water than anywhere else this year.
