a long time ago in a galaxy far far away...

more playing around. at least this time i manages 30sec subs... better than 10secs from the last try. processing it going to be my weak point i think... once again at 440mm so cropped. its fun capturing but processing is not as much fun. how can these be processed better?

Nice shot David.

Keep it up.

The more you shoot the better your quality will get.

A member of this forum, ATALAS (Louie) has some great Photoshop Processing Tutorials. Drop him a line.
They will give your processing the kick start it needs.

Ross.

no guiding houghy. not aligned properly either. i might have been able to squeeze a few more secs. and there are only 5 subs.

my biggest problem is alignment i think. get that and i'll be set.

anyhow i think i prefer this one... not so cooked looking. same data.
need new data.

Hi David,

If you don't have a field flattener - you can reduce the distortion around the edges by using filter - lens correction in photoshop or Gimp. It's not ideal - but it does round the stars off more.

Regards,
Tony.

It's a feature of photoshop (and Gimp). It simulates a correction to lens distortion and removes the stretching of the stars near the edges.
Its under the menu "filter" - "lens correction" then choose custom and slide the slider down to flatten the image.
I have attached an example of your image corrected.

Regards,
Tony.
