Nice work Paul.
The base of that rock is a lot narrower now than it was when I was a kid!
The old 'rock' bridge at Point Peron is now collapsed, not sure when that happened.

Thanks Colin, This IS my first Astro nightscape that I've ever done. It was so dark that I was amazed to see the rocks standing out so much in the picture. The illumination was coming from behind me from the lights from Rockingham and the Causeway to Garden Island. I would have changed my zoom but I didn't want to stray from my focus point.

Thanks Simon, There are so many interesting rocks and formations here but a lot of the best didn't point towards where the comet would be.

Hi Paul,

Nice picture. You've got Lemmon in the frame as well.

Cheers

I hadn't expected it to be there as I thought that it would be too faint. Thanks for pointing it out.

I've had a bit more time to fiddle and here is my version 2. Colour adjusted and some noise reduction with Topaz Denoise. Cropped to a 16:9 to fit popular devices!

The light on the rocks seems stronger than 2009 (when I last shot there). It's a beautiful view in moonlight.

Where was the bridge, Simon?

Thank you Justin, I have some modest Gear so I have to make up for some of it's deficiencies with a bit of Photoshop love. I'm on Holidays now for 3 weeks, I hope to start emulating your prolific output... Weather permitting

I've definitley got the bug. I have just bought an Ioptron Skytracker and it's due to be delivered tomorrow. I'm hoping to try it out at Dryandra on the weekend.

All the best

Paul

Ah nice! I hope the forecast thunderstorms this weekend don't eventuate.
Dryandra seems unfortunately timed with voting on Sat.
I was planning to head down to Point Peron after work tonight with the Astrotrac, but this cloud cover is not looking good, typical

I Have an unfortunate correlation between my days off and inclement weather!! I'm hoping that it stays clear as this would be my first ASWA event. The forcasts say that the cloud will clear this evening after 1700 so you might be lucky.

Great image, Paul! I prefer the first version - it is more "atmospheric"

Cheers,
Alex
