Remarkable bolide footage

Brand new: I'm surprised at how so many folk seem to drive around with a camera running (if that is the case).

Presumably only coincidental with arrival of DA14 in a few hours......

I got goose pimples watching that!

BTW, a LOT of Russians have cameras in their cars PERMANENTLY because of all the FAKE accidents, pedestrian incidents etc etc.

I had to come in and tell you how good that audio is through 7.2 system. Whatever that phone was, its got a good mic. It feels and sounds like my windows are being broken and its hitting here, the neighbours came out.

Surely the first time such an event has been mass recorded in HD quality! if not recorded at all.

Great stuff.

There are some vids around with sound - it was BIG, with pops and crackles continuing for at least a minute.

According to one report it was shot down by Russian air defences. Is that even possible?

Really good collection of videos at BadAstronomy:
http://mobile.slate.com/blogs/bad_as...er_russia.html

Sonic booms that shatter glass... truly immense and make you feel pretty small.

Hope nobody was too badly hurt, BBC news saying 500 hurt by glass etc.

Undoubtedly the most impressive videos of a bolide.

Amazing stuff.

The reports that it was shot down by military aircraft are plain bogus, this thing would've been travelling many times faster than what any modern fighter or interceptor jet is capable of. Some reports suggest that it was travelling at 54,000km/h and at a height of 30-50km. No aircraft on earth would be even remotely capable of destroying it. http://news.yahoo.com/500-injured-bl...105758757.html

WOW!

That was travelling so fast. Kind of ironic seeing everybody was watching a big one last night and this one sneeks through the back door. No way you are ever going to stop something like that.
Hope everyone in Russia is OK!

As amazing as DA14 was passing by last night , the emerging footage and story thats going to unfold from what went on in Russia is truly staggering.

Been lucky enough to see one bolide that went pop right at the end and it was pretty amazing ,pretty sure given the choice I'd rather of been somehere else when that came in .
