Cloud formation

Took this photo yesterday on my way into Biloela. Only had my iPhone with me and the picture doesnt really do it justice.
What we have is a cloud formation that looked a little like a corkscrew. Never seen anything like it before.

It is Cirrus Kelvin-Helmholtz, usually occurs around 16,500 ft, it is the satuation of an air mass at high levels and combined with wind sheer.

Tends to dissipate fairly quickly and as a result is seldom observed.

Nice capture

Thanks guys for the comments and John thanks for the facts. Might have to start carting the DSLR with me but might be awkward with a busted wing

There was a C K-H photographed over Moscow, Russia recently that caused a big conspiracy scare - from high level air force aerobatics to missile tests, to of course, ALIENS.
