Star Trek Chess Set

For the Star Trek Geeks.

One of my valued customers allowed me to photograph his chess sets. I was quite amazed at how good they look. The pieces appear too good to touch.
One of the ultimate gifts at Christmas to a geek, I would expect.

Perhaps a gift to the geek who has everything. LOL

Cheers

3D chess, now that is really cool.

I'd love to have one of those sets.

I already have a "Imperial Dragons" chess set which is a Graham Anthony collectors edition.

I recently got a 3D chess set, they are great. For a another good challenge 3 and 4 player chess is also good.

Chess sets are cool - I have a pewter Alice in Wonderland set by Graeme Anthony - the pieces take a bit of time to get used to and I am undefeated when people first play me! Home ground advantage!!!!

Hi Matt,

I knew I would awaken some sleeping giants in the chess field when I posted this thread. I was a chess champ at high school. Even gave the Juniour State Champ a run for his money.
We never finished the games. So it was never decided.

3D chess is new to me. I was never really into chess like the state champ was. 3D is just a more complex form of the game. It is however a gimmick that the promoters hoped would pay off. That is how I feel about it.

I believe it failed to perform because geeks are few and far between. It was something that geeks would be interested in. Most people would not see any entertainment value in it. Their capacity for such a mind bending challenge is inadequate and therefore leaving it to the "astrologists"...Oops, astronomers. Tee hee.

Cheers

I would love to have one of these! I remember the TNG cast playing with them on the show. The 3D would bring an extra challenge to the game.

I wonder how much they go for?
