Jupiter and Moons through LX90 / DSLR

Hi All,

After seeing many great images of Jupiter posted over the past few weeks, I have been looking for an opportunity to make a short animation of Jupiter rotating with the GRS visible.

Last night, I managed to capture ~10 movies between 11PM and 12:30AM, each 10 minutes apart to show the rotation of Jupiter. I used the "Gas Giants" iphone app to determine the best date/time where the GRS would be visible.

While I work on processing all the movies/images to create the animation over the next few days, I thought I would post one of the images which shows Jupiter, Io (just before it goes behind the planet), Eurpoa and Ganymede.

* DateTime: 6/12/2012 12:35AM
* Telescope: Meade LX90
* Mount: Standard Alt/Az
* Camera: Canon EOS 550d / Movie Crop mode
* Processed in Registax

Any feedback / suggestions for improving the processing welcome.

Cheers,
Mark
