Howdy Astro-liano's
Curiosity killed the cat, yeah eh
Messaged the other night, Weds I think, by mates daughter (wows at the moon and loves storms etc) Txts, Bob, you should look at the moon,, so outs I go and a noice 22* degree halo, not overly strong but easy to see none-the-less.
Takes a couple pics and video with the iPhone and noticed a fainter 2nd ring inside the main ring seems clearly part of an atmospheric optic phenomenon I have never seen before If my memory serves ..
Curious I looking up Space Weather's 'Atmospheric Optics' area found within the 'Coronas' article it mentions (see screenshot attached -yellow highlights) and explanation that seems relative to creating a 10* degree solar corona by very near similar principle but the droplets are a larger size of 6 microns ?
But these are water droplets and not ice crystals which form the 22* Halo's ?
Hmmm ? I wonder if both these optical effects (Droplets in middle altitude and Ice crystals above) were happening at the same time, always possible but please any who can enlighten me or put my mind to rest
