NGC6188, Starless HSS mix

Recently I was searching Astrobin and stumbled across some images done in a HSS mix - Ha mapped to Red, SII mapped to Green and Blue, generally with the stars removed (from what I saw).

So, I thought I would give it a try. I could not easily get rid of that massive star blob, so it's there. I've convinced myself that it's a positive influence on the overall image.

Very interesting, Chris.

The palette gives a moody and quite different feel to the usual 'background' of blue/green OIII just above the dragons themselves. A nice and fairly unique version of this oft-imaged region.

Thanks Pete. Yes, the very different feel definitely drew me to it.

I've got the OIII data as well, so I'll do a more "traditional" version of the region sometime soon.
