Thanks everyone for your input. I did have a really clear sky last night and spent a lot of time on the moon. Got a very detailed photo using my mobile over the eyepiece. Was surprised what a good resolution it gave considering I couldn't use the phone adapter which holds the phone steady because I could not find the moon unless I moved it around.

I struggle to find the full moon, I tend to get my son to locate it and square it in the eyepiece for me, he has great sight, I don't. His primary trick is keep the eyepiece out of the scope for the moon so he can see it straight through the tube assembly, then slap the eyepiece in and fine tune it and focus it.
The best thing about the moon is it's bright enough for fast exposures, mine are usually 1/250 or faster so hand held with the phone should still result in decent shots. I've seen some great shots my son has done with his iPad and phone while I've been out playing around with my DSLR and his have often put mine to shame. It would be great to be able to see well again.....
