Here's a shot of me and a mate at the AFL Grand final barbie last year where our team won. I'm the one doing the pole dancing at the back. Not a good shot of me but all I have at the moment.
I like to do a little song and dance routine on occassions.

This is me and my bike at Eucla, just the other side of the WA/SA border. A group of about 10 of us rode from Ceduna to Eucla and back one weekend last year. This photo is not long after we arrived (note the warm glass of scotch & coke on the seat). It was a bloody hot ride back on Sunday, especially around Nullarbor to Yalata, but the views from the clifftops were fantastic.

Hi - Just joined from http://www.ukastroimaging.co.uk/forums/index.php where I'm one of the admins. Thanks to Robby (and David) for the invite :)
Thought I'd start off here with a pic of myself - I was going to post one of me stood by my scopes, but it's a bit of a weener compared to all the 18" dobs and 16" LX200s http://ukastroimaging.co.uk/forums/images/smiles/icon_rolleyes.gif
So... this one was taken at a recent meet some of the members of UKAI attended - I'm Andy Ellis (drunk - those that know me would say this was just the usual state of affairs) next to me is Rob, the founder of UKAI, next to him Mikey Deegan or Mr Y-Fronts to his mates and at the back is Potzy. Me and a couple of the other site members drove 250miles through gale force winds/ flooding and powerouts (impossible to find a bacon sandwich... http://ukastroimaging.co.uk/forums/images/smiles/icon_eek.gif ) to be in on the drinking session - serious dedication http://ukastroimaging.co.uk/forums/images/smiles/icon_cool.gif 250 miles probably doesn't sound like much, here?
Anyway - hi from the other side...
Andy

I'm short sighted with astigmatism ( I'm never without my specs ), so please take a Nikko pen, draw circles around my eyes, and that is what I look like.

Well I've come to the conclusion that we are a magnificent looking bunch on this fine forum so the next logical step is a calendar. Not like Manpower or AFL/NRL players - no, something more warm & fuzzie with our telescopes! It'll sell like hot cakes & women will find us very appealing.....ok,ok- if not a calendar, what about a stubbie holder? :-)

Hi Tony,
it's a 16" (41cm) f4.5 Meade Starfinder Newt with an 8" f4 Vixen Newt as a guidescope. The mount is a standard Meade Satrfinder mount with a parts upgrade from Australias very own Anssen Technology - wheel, worm, motors, gears, and electronics.

I have had it ever since the hormones kicked in. I have shaved it off once in 20 years (I have been married 12 years) and all my mother in Law could say after looking at me for several minutes was had I had a very short haircut. It wasn't until 2 days later she realised that the beard had gone as well. Now with late nights, mozzies and sun the beard is a practucal astronomical tool. Thats what I keep telling myself anyway!!! It really hide a rather ugly feature - me?

After a month or 2 in the forums I just stumbled upon this one! Thought I'd better do the done thing and post a pic of myself...
Rather than the usual scope/astronomy pic... a shot from a trip to NZ over a year back now with my partner who also has put up with years of my astronomy addiction.
As much as I enjoy astronomy, I prefer the peaceful open space of the country & hiking....

spacezebra
18-05-2006, 07:54 PM
Hi there
I loved Paris and cant wait to go back - we only had a three day stay - just enough time to get in some sights and then it was back to the UK.
Going back in August/September 2007
vespine
23-05-2006, 04:08 PM
Actually, well, I'm very biased but I didn't like Paris. I'm very much into art and culture but I hate tourists and I was there during the summer so.... Granted aspects of it were amazing but overall it was just too tainded by the mood and streets covered in feces. That might sound snide, but I really don't mean it to be, it really detracted from the experience, made me realise how we Australians take it for granted...
After Paris, we went to Bordeaux and I loved it. May have had something to do with the fact that the Wine Festival was on too ;)
hmm... so THATS the unbeliever hey!!! :)

Here's a mugshot of me, waiting for the clouds to lift, and for the curious here's an odd little telescope I made long ago. Those puzzled by all the reflections (count them - it's no ordinary Newtonian !) can read more about it here http://web.mac.com/nloveday/iWeb/Folded%20Newtonian/Concept.html

johnno
28-06-2006, 12:36 AM
Hi John,
Glad you like the fridge,I have had it for several years now.
When I was working (self employed) I found the cost of a couple of beers a night just too expensive for what I was earning, especially when my wife likes a drink also.
just 4 twist tops a night each, means over 2 cartons a week,I donk know how much that is now,but it was at least $50.00 several years ago.
My beer is fermented twice, put in a 23 litre Stainless steel Ex coke keg,and gassed up.
Provides about 80 standard middy's, crystal clear beer, with no sediment whatsoever, for around $15.00
All the best.
Regards.

Well Observed,,,Yes I moved the things around a bit to get a nice balance..
the fork arms are unbalanced at manufacture, I moved the finder, and put the 100 where the finder was, dropped 5kg off the weight required to balance the overall units..seems to work ok,,, I can bias it either way by moving the counter forward or aft by quater inch,,,fluked it really...

This was taken about a year ago building at the deep sky site whoops I meant the farm and I've lost 20 kilos since then, amazing what diabetes can do for you if your positive and my lovely wife keeps an eye on me (help I'm starving to death :help: LOL).

Hello to all the new members...:hi:
What's up, Jeanette, you jealous???
jjjnettie
31-08-2006, 03:14 PM
Quite frankly YES I am jealous.
My secret girly vice ( and those who know me know that I'm not a girly girl )is collecting fabrics from over the world. My favourites are from Peru, Japan, Africa, Bali, India, Thailand and the Middle East. I have a hand sewn dress in my collection dating back to the 1920's with lots of fancy work on it, and a square of mid 1800's dress fabric that I had framed to save from further deterioration. At them moment there is a 1960's fabric revival and lengths of original material from that era is fetching very good prices.
But don't get me started on the subject because I can be a bit of a bore. LOLOLOL
:zzz2:
hehe, sorry. :) just kiddin

31-08-2006, 10:09 PM
Hi jjjnettie,
I've only ever worn the gear once ... during my daughter's wedding last year. We travelled to India & did it the traditional way .. was great fun & got to meet a lot of old school/college mates & relos after almost 25 years!! However, its no fun wearing heavy silk fabrics during peak Indian summer (was April/May).
Not a bad costume to wear at a star party to liven up things ... eh:rofl::lol:!
Cheers.
