This challenge is not to replace the monthly photo challenge, it's to compliment and hopefully be fast paced.

The way it works is that I'll start off with a photo and also name
the next subject using "The Next Photo will have......" and then someone can post the next photo with this theme and they inturn will pick the theme for the next photo saying "The Next Photo will have......" and so it goes.
Please only post photos that you yourself have taken, we'd like to see your work.

It is designed to be fast paced and fun, everyone can post but you'll have to be quick before the theme changes to something else.

If the person picking the theme wishes they can call a "Wildcard theme" where the next photo can be anything.

Please remember to include the line "The Next Photo will have......" in your post.

Also people can post comments in the same thread so it should be fun.

Please enjoy.

To get us started here's the first photo.
It's a passionfruit vine taken in abstract form.

The next photo will have "Something Big in it !"

Sharnbrook
07-10-2006, 05:51 PM
This coin was given to me by a friend in 1963 on the occasion of my 21st birthday, to keep "age" in perspective, as the coin is 1900 years old. It depicts a Roman Emperor, many of whom considered themselves to be Gods, but whether this was one of them, I don't know.

The Next Photo will have "Reflections or Refractions" , but it won't be Celestial

Regards,

Mike IGNORE THIS ONE

Bugger, at 5.35pm there was nothing there, but it took me 20 minutes to find the coin, take the picture, post it, by which time it might as well have been next year!!

You are not wrong! And each cow knows where it lives and strolls in the gate at sunset! Here are a couple more photos taken within one minute of the one above:

And if you don't have a cow but want to get some milk you don't go to the shop, you go to your neighbour with the cow and buy the milk from them. It's a little Hungarian village in Transylvania the locals call "Torockó".

Doug

Harmony for the ears... my son Joel playing my classical guitar.;)   ;) I'm a proud dad!

Actually at Christmas a year or two ago, all my family and Lyn's family were together. I'd just got a new acoustic bass, so Joel and I were having a jam - me on bass and Joel improvising with rhythm and lead. Lyn's daughter, Jarita, picked up some clap sticks and joined in keeping an excellent beat (she was 9 at time). When we finished she said "Was that real music or were you just making it up?":)

We both just said "Yes!":P

Sorry HOughy, that's not quite a lenticular. A lenticular cloud is a lens shaped cloud, generally formed when wind passes over a hill and the air is raised causing condensation. They often look like a circular lens (hence the name) or a flying saucer (the UFO kind, not crockery!:D ). They sometimes appear in lines where the air oscillates up and down through the condensation layer after being disturbed by the hill.

I have taken at least 2 photos of lenticular clouds... really I have... I just can't find them at the moment to post (and now I'm at work anyway - but I was looking for them last night in case no one had one).

But a cloud of lentils shows good lateral thinking skills!!!

Just a quick question UniPol. Are those Coronado EPs just GSO-style plossls with gold plated housings? ":confuse3:

UniPol
29-10-2006, 08:46 PM
Hi Steve, They certainly look like GSO EP's but from what I have read they are supposed to have enhanced coatings to suit the PST's and Solarmax scopes. Apparently they are good on nebulae etc. I haven't used them as yet owing to work commitments but when time becomes available I'll write up a little review.

I must apologise for the the use of the big word "Portentous", probably because I'm a schoolteacher. The Collins dictionary gives three meanings :

1. Momentous or ominous significance.
2. Miraculous, amazing or awe inspiring.
3. Self-important or pompous.

Hope this inspires someone with the next pic :)

Cheers,

Steve

Dennis
04-11-2006, 10:20 PM
I reckoned no one would admit to breaking an astronomical accessory, let alone post a photo of one, so I had a play around with my photo editing program. With hindsight, I guess a solar filter is the one astronomical accessory that should not be tampered with, even in a photo editing program.

So, just for the record, the Baader solar film is in perfect condition and was morphed on my computer using some funky filter in Photo Paint. Please do not be alarmed, these filters are incredibly tough and resilient when handled in accordance with the manufacturer’s data sheet. But, as always, take care, take no risks and always use an approved full aperture solar filter – your eyesight is precious.

Cheers

In accordance with Leon's wishes something "romantic", Blue Wrens (Superb Fairy Wren; Malurus cyaneus) in their mating ritual. Ladies take note the pretty blue chested one is the male and is being chased by the female. These little birds, who mate for life, were recently described as being very promiscuous. Apparently the male flits off for flings with other females while the female courts other males whilst hubby's away. Sounds familiar....:P
