Is it possible to have a long exposure modified Toucam such as the 900NC to stream the images over the internet such as the Night Skies Network? So the long exposed image is seen on the screen?

Just thinking aloud and wondered if it was possible.

Andrew, i have used some open source software that will post updated snapshots from any webcam, i expect it would work nicely with a toUcam. You need to open up some a port to allow access, the easiest way to sort out any dynamic ip issues is to set up a dyndns account. Can't remember the title but google for "open source webcam server" and you're sure to turn up something.

Andrew, the simple answer is no.

There are many people asking the same question every week in NSN, Cloudy Nights, and the Yahoo Groups.

So far, no-one has been able to crack a way to do it.
I even tried for several weeks :ashamed:
The difficulty lies in the fact that the LX mode is a Long Exposure, not an integrating build up of Video.

There is probably a way to set it up through programs like ManyCam where you could display the image after it uploads each image from the camera to the PC then show it on NSN, but all you would be doing is Broadcasting a still image every few minutes.

If you click the LX switch off and use the ToUcam as a webcam you can do live broadcast on NSN but then you are limited to Planets, Moon, and stars.
No DSO's.

It's only about $150 for a Samsung camera that will allow you to do up to 256x integrations that give a live image.
Here is Steve Wainwright's video showing what he gets 'Live' with his SDC-435 from light polluted Swansea in England: HERE (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9uT9QFJmmOA)

or you can step up to around $500 for the Samsung SCC-A2333 like I have and get this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JHiCNmYdkaE
or the Mallincam Junior or the Gstar-Ex Colour
