I've mused over why this system, despite its 90mm aperture, works so well. I can't say I really know the answer.
I suspect it comes down to using a extremely well corrected objective, stopped down, to probably make it perfect.
Couple that an etalon working with an effectively parallel wavefront: i.e no instrument induced hot spots or banding, it simply works.
The system has only been limited by seeing in my experience with it to date.
That said I hope be able to get to play with a 152mm Lunt for a short time
later in the year, so it will be interesting to compare the two.
