To answer your PM re. filters... I am currently using an Astronomik IR cut filter.
http://www.astronomik.com/english/eng_ir.html Works very well. You can also get UV/IR cut filters (Band Pass is visible light) but I'm not sure the UV cut is required... Would be keen to do a compare one day.
