Thanks, mate. I'm glad the emotional aspect of the image hit home. A number of people I've shown have mentioned that my images resemble paintings. I couldn't ask for a greater compliment.

These sorts of scenes are to be found everywhere around the south island. I wish I could quit my dayjob and trek for the rest of my life.

I stopped doing HDR after my European holiday. It is very hit and miss. When you miss, it comes across as very amateurish. I have learnt, and continue learning, that it is more important to get the exposure right in camera than to waste precious hours afterwards in post processing. I provide the exposure details under the image so that people realise that these aren't HDR.
