I forget to mention that a lot of people don't have there browsers setup right,I use Internet Explorer here is what I have done, go to Tools/Internet options/privacy click on "block pop-up windows" then click on advanced, then click on Over ride automatic cookie handling then, click both "prompts" and always allow "session cookie".So each web page you visit a prompt will appear if you want to accept the cookie or not, as a lot of web pages have third party cookies you only accept the web page cookies that you know.
but remember that some web pages will not let you in unless you accept there cookies.try blocking it first and if you get in with no problems the next time you visit and the prompt shows up you just click never allow.
You can also get a prog called "Mail washer" it used to be free not anymore ,but what it does it gets your mail from your server and lists the mail thats there, then you decide what you want to download in other words if there is a spam mail, bounce it and you will never get any mail from that person again. I should still have the free one on my hard drive, if anyone wants a copy let me know and I'll send it ,the only difference between the free one and the sharware one is that the free one only does one email address, so say you have more than one email address you have to decide which email you want it to check. hope this info helps,and I've explained it right for anyone to understand,if not let me know
