The latest BAA Journal has a note about a new part of the BAA website that allows public access to example spectra for particular stars. I tried it today without logging on as a member and it works.
Just Google britastro and the BAA home site will come up. Click on spectra and you will have thousands at your fingertips. You don’t have to fill in every box. I just picked a bright star (Castor) and it came up with lots of lovely curves.
I did notice that there is nothing on eta Car and gamma2 Vel, the two best spectra in the whole sky. There’s a good chance for a s. hem observer to get some brownie points!
