I also see many of the queries of this nature that come into Perth Observatory - and I'm not at all surprised how many of them start with: "Me and my mate were having a few drinks and..."

I'm with you there Andrew.
My first action is to reach for my binoculars which are always close at hand,have a pair permanently based in the car,plus a pair on the table at all times.
