Industrial Relations: wages, conditions etc.
But that's only part of the issue. The bigger issues are
1. They are not making cars that consumers want (i.e. Mazda 3 more popular than V6 and V8 petrol guzzlers).
2. Aust cars are still poor in terms of quality and durability (compared with Euro cars, but light years ahead of the Chinese, but that wont take too long to narrow the gap. Heck even the Korean cars are better now).
3. As we get richer (i.e. having more disposable income), we all suffer from brand snobbery. So why buy a Holden when you can get an Audi for 10k more.
