Hi - the filter I am using is smokey-colored, not white as I'd indicated in my earlier post.

Hi Shane. Your first problem is that you are way over exposed. Do you have a manual exposure setting for your camera? There is too much contrast and brightness range for your cameras autoexposure to work properly. Once you have your exposure worked and the moon isn't burnt out, then you can work on your focus.
Also can you upload your images as jpegs rather than pdf (or bmp) as a thumbnail of you image is generated then and the image will also open in a new window.

Thanks Paul - will try less exposure and see what happens, altho I dont know if there is much leeway with that on my cam. Guess I'd better have a look at the manual, hey.....

Wow, what a difference! Thanks, Paul, this exposure adjustment is really what's been the prob all along! My shots are far from even "fair" but I'm starting to get the hang of it.
