First light for the new beastie that arrived today. After a cloudy day the skies finally cleared properly about 11pm so I managed half an hour to give it a quick rundown. I already have a 10 and 17 Ethos and this is a replacement for my old 13T6 Nag.
As with all the Ethos line this is a nice solid EP. It feels surprisingly light in the hand, I guess after seeing how big the Ethoi are, you expect a really heavyweight but it presents no problems with the scope balance.
Knocked over a few favs, NGC 253, 47 Tuc and NGC 2070. 2070 was easily the most impressive. Lots of detail easily seen at 115x and the big field allowed lots of other objects to be seen. Stars were appearing sharp pretty well across the entire field. Focus is a little touchy, possibly a little more finicky than the 13T6 Nag. When I have that back in my hand I will do a comparison.
All around I am impressed. I know the 13E has been around a fair while now as it was the first Ethos released, but if you haven't had a chance to look through one, hunt one down at your next star party and have a look.:eyepop:
