Going nuts with DSS

Still continuing to have significant issues with DSS - and I am using the latest Beta - makes no difference.

Whenever I load a full RGB RAW (saved directly on the comp or card - doesn't matter), DSS tells me the image has a depth of Gray, 16 bit, which is NOT CORRECT. If I load a png version of the same, it says it is RGB, 8 bit, or a TIFF, it'll say RGB, 16 bit.

So, why the heck is it attributing the CR2 RAW's as grey scale????? OF course, if I process them, the result is monochrome.

PLEASE, someone help, because I can see NO WAY to change it.

Have a look at the file import settings
There you can specify your dlsr or ccd and that should set the correct bit depth if required

Tried all tht - still tells me a Canon CR2 RAW is a 16 bit gray

I'll post screen shots of the process I go through with DSS.
I'll keep adding them as I go ok.

Image 3. How it looks in DSS after I stack. I don't do any post processing whatsoever in DSS. The next step is to go to the folder where the autosave file is and drag and drop the autosave into Photoshop.
Image 4. In photoshop it's still looking pretty grey and miserable
Image 5. Change the image to 16bit, stretch it a bit in Curves, then set the black point in Curves and the colour starts to pop right out. Brighten it up more using Shadows and Highlights. More curves, apply some contrast and just the tiniest bit of Saturation, and you wouldn't recognise it as the same image. ;)
