The Pi is pretty cool, but sadly it has been hyped for a couple of years and a limited run only shipped earlier this year to people on a waiting list. Some are still waiting, myself included. I gave up.
The $25 and $35 price tag has caused a huge supply/demand problem.
There are alternatives for slightly more outlay, some are better in many ways(particularly of you are developing hardware) like the BeagleBoard

There's a guy over on CloudyNights using one of these RaspberryPI's and putting OpenPHD guiding, GOTO, and Canon EOS capture software on it as well as SSH and X server, so using an iPad/Android or whatever he can control camera, guide, goto using SkySafari etc. Pretty cool:

Rally, yeah it was element14 where I was on the waiting list. By the time I got an email to say they had them in stock I had bought alternatives (beaglebone and a FriendlyARM)
I still have the option to buy one but last time I looked there was UK stock only. When I went thru the checkout for the Oz site it said no stock available.
