Software for long exposure ToUCam

G'day all,

I have a friend who owns a long exposure modified ToUCam. The camera came with a piece of software called Desire. I have tried using it, they have tried using it and all in all it just gives us problems. File format problems, usability issues, it seems to just make the whole job hard.

I noticed there is a newer version of Desire available, but as it needs to be registerred (and paid for) I thought I'd ask before buying:

What software would people recommend for operating a long exposure modified ToUCam? What are the alternatives?

i have found desire to be rough but ok, qfocus allows for long exposure and also k3ccd

I've had some success with IRIS with my webcams, but as I now have a std Webcam (planetary) a SC1 Webcam (guiding/ spectro), MX7c (DSO/Spectro) and now just added a Canon 350D I'm finding Astro Art V3 to be ideal for me. Plenty of support in the forums and drivers available for almost any camera, one stop shop for me. I'd like to be able to run it "inside" TheSkyV6/ Astroplanner, but as suggested ASCOM links them all if you have a machine with a bit of grunt.

There is a free program which I have found to be the best and most reliable as well as Free. Its called Cap4Astro. A web search will find it but if not then I have the program on disk.

I don't understand your problems. I use Desire and find it extremely simple to use with no bugs or quirks :shrug:
