I've just installed a TransDigital card claimed to be ECP compatable etc, set to the same LP1, 0378 settings as my old Sony laptop but I can't get Astroart to work with the Mod Webcam.
Keep getting "access violation @ address 01D24E0B in Module d_modcam.dll"
I've tried re-installing astroart etc etc and re-tried the camera back on the old Sony, where it works OK.

Only difference I can see is that the Sony printer driver shows up as an ECP driver whereas the new card just shows printer.....
Can anyone help!!!!!!!!!

First use device manager and check that the hardware is set correctly.
Make sure (I assume windows XP) you set LPT legacy, and also check the physical address is correct in the resources of the device. It should be :

I/O range: 0378 - 037F and use DMA 03.
you could also set one of the options in the Port settings for interupt selection.

YES! YES!
Thanks to to input from Gama, some comments from the manufacturer finally managed to get the SC1 webcam to work for me.
Ended up using LP2, 0378, with legacy ( No means to set DMA so ignored this setting!)

OK I now accept it IS possible to upgrade to a laptop with no serial/ parallel ports and still be able to talk to all your bits and pieces!!!!!
BTW the serial is a USB>Serial from Keyspan and the USB> Parallel from TransDigital.
