Probably old news to many that know Picasa, but for a free image hosting solution its continues to get better. I've seen the magnifying glass above image before but never bothered to try :bashcomp:
If you call up and image, press F11 in browser for full screen, then click the magnifying glass for zoom mode, you can use the mouse scroll wheel to zoom (ala zoomify) and click/drag to explore.

Takes a while obviously for full res to cut in as you zoom right in. I know there are white backgrounds until you start a slideshow, etc, etc for purists, but still......
