Hi Sonia, I don't have a LPI but i do have a DSI which shares the same software as the LPI.
First, i suggest reading the .pdf file from the Meade website here: http://www.meade.com/manuals/TelescopeManuals/LPI_Imager/LPI_Manual.pdf
Also download the instructional video's here:
http://www.meade.com/educational/index.html
hope it helps

and here :

although it applies to the DSI, i believe it is same.

Hi Sonia.
There are a few people around her who have them, myself included. I'm not sure how many actually use them for imaging planets and how how many use them as an autoguiding camera. I gather you are more interested in using it for its intended use, planetary imaging?

Hi Sonia,
What have you been able to do so far? Are you using the Meade software to capture?
It is a good idea to try the LPI in the daylight on a terrestrial target if you haven't already.

Yes, and I have one and use it for lunar and planetary imaging as well as as a guidecam, I have even pointed it at a DSO or two for fun.
I have used it with an ETX90 and my current 8" Vixen reflector with the Autostarsuite software and with Envisage. I have used it to guide the ETX via ASS and the Vixen via GuideDog and GuideMaster (ASCOM drivers).
Basically it works well for all those tasks - but it is limited as a guidecam due to software limitations with long exposures (except with the Meade s'ware). Best advice is to set it up in daylight first, get focus, swap in an ep and fit the parfocal ring.
One thing to bear in mind if wanting to use it to look at small objects - it is equivalent t oa 6mm ep - your field of view is small so take care to ensure your object is well centred and tracking well before you fir the LPI...
