Interesting read, good luck to them fighting that one.
Bring on World Heritage listing for dark skies.

I am pretty lucky where I am with good N W and E views, S is lit up by a damn Nickel refinery, thanks Clive. ;)
It's such a shame, I just spent a week in one of the better dark sky areas in France and compared to where I live which is arguably the worst light pollution in Europe the difference is huge. It was the best sky I had seen since leaving Oz. It really made me appreciate even more how good we have it at home.
