It's been a while since anything new has come along on this subject. Respected British actor David Jason hosts a new documentary which commemorates the events' 70th anniversary. Should be great.

Yep - good show, well done. No tantantarra Foxtel-style BS urgency and dramatic music. Calmly delivered and informative. Nothing new in terms of previously undisclosed information or anything, but a top show nonetheless.

It was great. Wonderful footage but hard to get my head around the fact that a pilots life expectancy was just a few hours. Frightening.

Thanks mate -- much enjoyed. The course of history changed there. Had the British not succeeded in defending against the Germans right there, the world might be a very different place today. Beside being a deadly weapon in the right hands, the Spitfire is just drop-dead gorgeous. Beautiful piece of machinery. The Hurricanes were just as important to the overall scheme, but the Spitfires are just beautiful things.

The Hurricanes were a better machine. Get shot up, land, patch it with Irish linen, back in the air. The Spitfire, being all metal, had to go to the shop to get fixed. At least that is what a good friend of mine (now deceased) said, as he flew Hurricanes during the Battle for Britain.

But, I agree, the Spitfire is a beautiful looking machine.
RIP Peter, long gone, but definitely not forgotten!
