More shots with the video camera on the tripod again last night. Video camera is a Sony TRV320 with slow shutter mode on and set to 1/3 second exposure time, steady shot turned off and focus set to infinity, zoom on max (25 x).

This time I stacked 1000 frames of M42 in Registax. After playing around with the wavelets it was only looking marginally better than yesterdays effort (see 'M42 and the moon' thread). Then I thought I would play around with the histogram settings to see what would happen. After much stretching, tweaking, scrunching and clicking of any setting that could be changed, :eyepop: holy smoking nebula in Orion batman, out popped this little bewdy!!!!

I think you've done pretty well to get that from just a video camera and a tripod. Well done. :)

Thanks. I must admit I was surprised that the camera was able to get as good an image as it did. Although I think Registax had a lot to with that. Good ol' Registax, where would we be without it ....
