View Full Version here: : Has anyone used the DARV polar alignment method in APT?

I have both APT and BackyardEOS, but have mostly been using BackyardEOS for camera control for a while now. I have just been reading about the DARV polar alignment method that has been implemented in APT that looks like it may be even quicker than doing it with PHD.

The blurb on the website says that by analysing drift directions for about 2 minutes per star, the misalignment in each axis can be determined and corrected in 1 iteration.

Has anyone here used this enough to be able to pass on their experience with it?

I'd like to know this too!

I've recently moved from the northern hemisphere where polar alignment (at least "good enough" polar alignment) is somewhat easier. The main thing putting me off getting the telescope out is that first alignment session...

Thanks,
