I am looking at a new eyepiece which, should pretty much do it for me as far as EPs go......for now at least. I am looking at either a 6mm Delos or a 7mm Pentax XW or a 7mm T6 nagler.

I do like the eye relief on the XWs but my favourite EP is my 13mm T6 Nag. I have never looked through a Delos so can't comment. They are all around the same price (if you source the XW from the US).

a lot of forum reports around the globe/web seem to have a good deal of subjective view points. I have an XW10mm which I LOVE but, as I stated I have a 13mm T6 which I also LOVE. Is the Delos as good as these two?????

Any experience and comments with/on these three EPs would be very much appreciated.

Regards, Frank.

PS. My scopes are an F5 (Dob), F7.7 (Refract or) and an f12 (MakCas - which I have not held in my hot little hands yet)

if it was me i would be trying the delos (for the fact you don't have one) - the CN reports have been favourable - it is a big heavy piece though

Hi Daniel,

They may be right but don't forget patriotism plays a part in many Cloudy Nights reports, from people who can't evaluate objectively and look past the green lettering. There were countless Cloudy Night reports over the years saying how the 7mm Nagler T6 was the equal of or better than the 7mm Pentax XW. I had both of them for about a year and while the differences were subtle, the 7mm XW is slightly superior optically IMO. I still have the 7mm XW. That comment BTW is coming from someone who owns 5 Pentax eyepieces and 12 Televue eyepieces. I have no doubt the Delos are outstanding eyepieces but I think the differences between the DELOS and the XW's will be fairly subtle at best.

Cheers,
John B
