I think its time for my first premium eyepice purchase.

Really like the look of the Naglers, but not sure which focal length to purchase ?

My equipment is a 12" Dobsonian
My favourite objects are Nebulae and Galaxies.

Any suggestions as to what i shoudl be looking to invest in ?

Thanks

Stuart

I like something that roughly sits either side of the scope focal length divided by 100. So If your scope is 1500mm, I would go looking for roughly 13-15mm ep. Do u want 2" only or 1.25"?

You could go 13 Nag, or ethos or even Denk 14

When I had my 12" GSO the 13mm and 9mm Naglers both got a lot of work - mags of 115 and 166 respectively and I still use roughly these mags most of the time for DSOs. As Les points out an exit pupil of 2mm is best for galaxies. 13mm would give exit pupil of 2.6 mm, 9 mm would give exit pupil of 1.8mm.

I'd get both!

Yep, I'd have to agree. I have the 13mm and 9mm Naglers and the 12" GSO Dob, perfect harmony.

Something a bit cheaper, the TV 15mm and 11mm Plossl's are excellent too.

Cheers,
Jason.

Excellent Stu. As soon as you get it, point it at 47 Tuc. And breathe.

I'll be really interested to see how you find it compared to what you have been using. Please have a go with both one night and let us know!

Hi Stu, I am contemplating getting the 13mm Nagler, if you have a Barlow or Powermate can you let me know what is your assessment, I have read on the one hand that it is a little mushy, but read also that it Barlows well :confused2:
Thanks
Ray.
