Here is a message to the beta group about the latest release to the beta group. Many have made comments about the progress that is going on. Well Maybe thismessage from René, will spell some fears. I also put up his comments aboutthe new alignment method is the last release of the hand controller on myweb site. The new method is quite different than the method use in the firmware for this group. Seehttp://www.gemini-2.com/alignment_proceedure.html (http://www.gemini-2.com/alignment_proceedure.html)

I think you will all see that we are now getting close to a final product. Hopefully PEC, PAC and PAA will be next. With these functions implemented, the G2 will have all the functionallyof the G1 plus much more.Tom HiltonMessage to Beta test group from René:Dear group,Just in time for testing this weekend I've uploaded the latest HC firmware Major improvements:The Menu screen has now three additional buttons in the upper half (observation): SEARCH, IDENTIFY and FUNCTION.The SEARCH button opens up a screen that allows to initiate a meander-pattern search. You can specify the FOV of you eyepiece (it will be multiplied by 0.7071 since the movement is rectangular) and a number of search cycles. You need the latest main board firmware to have this working, since the :MF was corrected there. Also, the number of cycles will be ignored until the next main board firmware is ready. The IDENTIFY button searches a catalog (selected at the next screen being displayed) and displays the eight nearest objects, prepared to be selected for a GoTo. The long NGC catalog takes some seconds.FUNCTION only shows an empty screen, but there will be PAA and PAC.Solar System Objects: buttons for objects below horizon are inactive.Bug fix:Set Safety Limit Here functionality is corrected.

Happy testing,René

Hi Mark.

I am testing the latest firmware tonight and hopefully the rest of the week.
We should know more after tonight once everything goes ok, then the pec can be implemented hopefully.

Martin.

PS: Logan is now the second Southern Hemisphere tester in the beta group (2 is better than 1 :P ).
Only the southern part of the hemisphere has to be tested before the new firmware will be released to everyone.
