I just bought a pair from the WO eBay shop but disappointedly it wouldn't focus with my WO Megrez 90 together with the essential WO dielectric star diagonal. :sadeyes:Not enough inward travel even using the supplied 1.6x barlow nose-piece. I do not expect a WO product wouldn't work on a WO scope. What is your experience? Does the WO binoviewer works with other WO scopes or the ED80?

You'll be able to get it to work Vincent, it's just a matter of finding the right combination of diagonal and barlow/corrector.

If you're using a 2" diagonal you could try a 1.25" diagonal which chews up less back focus. A 2" GSO barlow element screwed onto the nose of the 2" diagonal might work. A short 2x barlow instead of the 1.6x supplied corrector could work. You could try screwing the supplied 1.6x corrector onto the nose of a 1.25" diagonal.

EDIT: actually a long 1.25" 2x balow would give a lower magnification than a short barlow, but be careful that the barlow doesn't bottom out on the mirror.

Unfortunately some fractors & newts don't focus even with the 1.6x ova. You might need to buy one from Harry siebertoptics, but they aren't cheap & it is inconvenient to do so. I agree with Tony the 1.25" diag should make a difference

I have a 1.25" diagonal you can borrow if you want to see if it works.

Thanks. I have a 2x Shortie Orion Barlow. Will try it tonight with the 1.25" diagonal. Cheers

Hi Vincent,

Do you have any colour filters your not using? If so remove the filters from their holders, and screw the holders/filter bodies into the bino nose piece and in turn screw the supplied 1.6x corrector onto the stack of filter bodies,(sometimes one is enough but generally two or three bodies may be required). This method has been used as a cheap fix by many other WO Bino owners to cause focus to be achieved.

Stephen.(Also a WO Bino owner).:)

I used a 1.25" diagonal, then put a 2x Orion Shortie barlow between it and the binoviewers. Now I can achieve focus with plenty in travel to spare. But the problem are 1.practically using 10mm EP. Magnification too high and I want to see rich field(low mag) with 2 eyes. Any way??
2. Balancing. Eyepiece end too heavy that my alt/zim mount gear wouldn't turn.

Siebert Optics sells correctors that let you get the magnification down to 1.25x the normal mag for the scope and a given eyepiece (cost $119) or a corrector which gives three different magnifications for $149.

Another option for wide field low power is binoculars.
