Greetings all

Does anybody know if there are distributors/manufacturers of clamshell observatories in Australia. I am thinking of the type of thing produced by Astrohaven (http://www.astrohaven.com/). Such a dome would have some of the advantages of a dome, and some of the advantages of a roll-off roof (ie a large enough one could cope with 2 scopes).

Any ideas, comments etc?

no idea david but wow don't they look great...when we bought the pod's they ordered a container at a time.. as usual the freight is going to kill you.if buying one on it's own...

Yep, that's what I'm worried about!!! Actually I'm really worried about how much they cost in the first place, regardless of getting one here!!!

I'd consider a Pod, but they aren't really big enough and I want to automate the dome. If I can't get a clamshell, I would consider a normal dome, but then I'm limited to one pier. :confused2:

Hopefully one of these incredibly bright people who hang around here will have a good idea.

Alas, due to work issues, I can only come up for the day on the last Saturday!

But hopefully we can catch up for a chat about the pods. They certainly are interesting as an idea, and as per the other thread I have running in this forum, you will see that something is definitely in the winds!
