The boy child bought a ZTE 7inch tablet this week and told me it cost $100. As soon as it arrived he wiped it, installed android and reset the optus imse lock so it can 3G to any network.

Tonight I got the thing to VNC to the astro laptop. It's a bit slow but, what a bargain for $100. How cheap will this stuff get?

Dunno Pete, it has 'Yes Optus' engraved on top but it came via courier? I'll ask him.
I thought I'd borrow it for astofest, shut up the equipment tent and monitor it all from the warmth :)

It's the Optus Tab, now heavily reduced in a runout sale. Previously $149 (which was already cheap), they've been selling out everywhere they've been available at the even further reduced price (eg. Australia Post last week).

Whirlpool (http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum/140?g=293) has very active, informative forums for all things in the Android tablet world, including many posts highlighting current offers for this and other brands.

That's the one michael. He got his from Dick Smiths, not many left by the looks.
He tells me he put a modified android on it to speed it up.
