Can someone please quickly help me?

I have Starry Nights Enthusiast software version 6 (not the pro).
The manual says that I can use night mode by going into options and choosing it. There doesn't seem to be anything in options to select it. Do I actually have it on this version?
I've been trying for ages but have now given up. I was hoping I would have it going for tonight.

If someone could spare the time to help me, I would be very grateful. :thanx:

Hi Suzy

I just had a look at the Starry Night Enthusiast manual and on Page 20 it writes:

"If Starry Night Enthusiast is showing a daytime scene, try changing the time so that it is night".

Also, have a look on Page 29 where it writes:

"With Starry Night Enthusiast, you can get around this problem by selecting View->Hide Daylight from the menu, or unchecking “Daylight” in the Options pane (Local View)".

It goes on to say: "This turns on or off the effects of a planet’s atmosphere, including the scattering of light which makes our sky appear blue. If it is daytime and you turn daylight off, you will be able to see the stars which are normally hidden".

Cheers

Hi Dennis,

Thank you for trying to help me.:)

I don't think it's got to do with the daylight tho.

The manual tells me this, but none of this incl. white sky mode appears in the options panel. In fact, the options panels has very few things to choose from and I've been through them all.

And I'm sure my lappy should support night mode as it's fairly new, hubby says it should support it (it's an Asus).

If you mean the night vision mode (turns the screen red) there is a red diamond shaped button on the tool bar to toggle this on or off. If you don't have a tool bar press one of the f keys (f6 I think) that toggles the tool bar on or off.

Hope that helps

Hi Suzy

Whoops – I got the wrong end of the stick!

My reply was about seeing stars in the daytime and not about the red light scheme for night vision mode. Interestingly enough, I did not see any reference to night vision mode in the essentials manual that I browsed on-line?

I have SN Pro Plus 6 and the attached screen captures shows the “Options” drop down menu and the red diamond mentioned by Sandy.

Cheers

Sandy & Dennis, thanks for your help and am very sorry it's taken me this long to get back to you'll.

From what you'll have said, along with the very helpful screenshot which Dennis supplied, I've concluded that the night vision mode isn't available on the Enthusiast version.
The manual I'm reading I guess covers Pro as well.
Oh well, red cello on screen then.

Hi Suzy

It’s a little disappointing that the folks at Starry Night did not include the night vision mode in the Essential edition.

If you are a whiz at Windows, I’m sure that you could create a night vision scheme by going into “Display Properties” then selecting the “Appearance Tab”.

It looks like you can then change the colours of the Desktop and the Menus and save the Colour Scheme as your own personal night vision scheme!

Be careful though; make sure you don’t over write the default schemes that shipped with Windows!;)

Cheers
